ROCKWALL MAIN STREET
The national Main Street revitalization effort was established in 1980 by the National Trust for Historic Preservation to address the challenges facing historic downtown commercial districts. Fast forward 40 years and Main Street America™, a subsidiary of the National Trust, leads a nationwide network of state coordinating programs that support local Main Street programs as they implement the Main Street Approach™ to established revitalization initiatives that transform downtown historic commercial cores. Rockwall was designated an official Texas Main Street City in 2008 by the Texas Historical Commission. Rockwall Main Street is also a member of the Texas Downtown Association, a valuable resource providing it’s member cities with resources, advocacy, education and connections to develop vibrant districts.

Book Club FacadeMAIN STREET FACADE GRANT
The success of downtown revitalization relies heavily on both the public and private sectors support and reinvestment in the downtown district. The goal is for all sectors of the community to understand and be philosophically committed to the revitalization process and to commit maximum resources possible to achieve downtown commercial district revitalization. Rockwall Main Street has designed the following façade reimbursement grant program as an economic incentive for downtown reinvestment opportunities.

Grants are a 50/50 match with a cap of $1,000 per grant and may be used for exterior work on storefronts and highly visible side and/or rear facades. Grants will not be awarded for work that has already been completed or for work that is covered by insurance. Submitted projects will be reviewed based on, but not limited by the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation and approved by the Main Street Advisory Board. Grants are available throughout the year, on a first come, first serve basis until funds are depleted. Applicants are encouraged to contact the Main Street office to discuss the project. Assistance is available for selecting paint, building materials, color schemes and sign materials.

Email completed facade grant application along with itemized work estimates, color samples, drawings, sign materials of proposed work to Rockwall Main Street. Applications will be considered at the regular Main Street Advisory Board meeting held the third Tuesday of each month.
